I Am a Blind Senior Attempting To Adopt A Greyhound
Pepper’s Story

Our Adoption By Pepper
I'm a blind senior , whom has shared the lives of many dogs. When attempting to adopt a Greyhound for the first time, there were a few concerns for a dog's safety. Is just love for a dog enough to overcome this? What about walking, protecting, and keeping a Greyhound from unseen harm? Were these valid questions?
In attempting to answer these, I'll need to start with the reason for requesting a Grey. About five years ago, my wife Janis and I, had to put down our sixteen year old Ridgeback. You never have enough time with the good ones. I already walk everyday, so I wanted a companion, more than just a guide, After going through many talks and a great interview, my wife and I transported our new life partner, to her permanent home. It soon became apparent the dog must adopt you, not the other way round. This was to be emphasized, since Pepper was being adopted a second time. Between the loss of her previous residence, the extra fostering, probably added to her confusion, of where did she belong.
When we received Pepper, she was very polite, quiet, and well mannered, but just not as frisky, as one would expect. For six weeks, Pepper shared what love she could muster. That wasn't to say, when we left her for anytime, she would fuss or show signs of separation anxiety. Pepper has decided to adopt us. When she eats, she does it with complete vigor and enthusiasm, no more finickiness. Pepper enjoys playing numerous times each day, often zooming, while tossing her stuffed toys in the air. When asleep, she imitates the best of a dead cockroach. It's difficult not spoiling the dog behind those eyes showing you such love, but... When adopting, patience is the key. For my wife and I, patience brought us great happiness and love.

We hope you can also be as Blessed, as we feel from our Pepper! Janis and I, would not only like to thank Stu and Barbara, but would also like to share our appreciation for the help from Bob and Kathy Lindner, including; their Racer and Molly.
