I am home alone with a sick baby and my very upset adopted greyhound. Can anyone help me?
Jasper's Story

Nicole was “home alone” as the saying goes when the smoke detectors started to go off due to a weak battery. Jasper her adopted ex racer became very upset and Nicole could not calm him down. With a sick baby and a frantic dog Nicole needed help so she turned to the Golden State Greyhound Community. Here is her story.
When it rains it pours...the following is Nicole's post on the Golden State Greyhound internal bulletin board.
I'm home alone with a sick baby and we have a smoke detector that has started chirping. I can't figure out which one is the errant detector, nor can I reach them anyway, we have vaulted ceilings. The constant noise is making Jasper extremely anxious and I can't calm him down. Perhaps the chirps are hurting his ears. I know it is late but Jasper is panting and shaking, and although I've called an electrician they can't come out until tomorrow afternoon so this is going to continue. I need help. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to soothe Jasper? Might there be anyone near Redwood Shores who is interested in an unplanned overnight guest? I feel so badly for Jasper I'm willing to pack up the baby and bring Jasper to a more peaceful home for the evening.
Thanks for any advice.
With just one posting on the Golden State Greyhound Adoption bulletin board, help was on the way.
Stu thanks for posting this on the GSGA internal bulletin board. As suggested we called the firemen and they came and dismantled the detectors I couldn't reach, and a generous and kind grey-mom Shanna, they recently adopted Conn, came to pick up Jasper for the evening. Now I can get back to tending the sick baby, who just woke up.
Before I sign off, I must let you know how much I appreciated the support tonight. Many people have said this before and I have to echo it; this group is comprised of amazing people. No matter how disparate our backgrounds, we have an extremely strong connection through our beautiful Greyhounds and I'm so grateful to be a part of this family.
